Prior to entering politics, former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was a tire dealer. And as part of the Sept. 18-22 International Tire Exhibition and Conference (ITEC) in Cleveland, the Retread Tire Association (RTA) will be presenting its Gabrielle Giffords Inspiration Award to a deserving member of the tire industry.

Nominees need to be an employee of an independent tire dealership or tire company who offers inspiration to others regarding how they have coped with a disability – defined as “a physical or mental condition that substantially limits one or more major life activities.”
Entries are due by July 30, submitted to the RTA.
Another ITEC activity is a Retread Tire Beauty Contest that rewards the best retreaded tire. “Employees will love the opportunity to show off their great workmanship,” according to the organizers of the competition.
