TROY, Mich. — General Motors recently presented a 2007 Supplier of the Year award to DuPont Automotive OEM Coatings, which provides coatings to major automotive manufacturers globally.

DuPont received a General Motors 2007 Supplier of the Year award for its "contributions to GM's global product and performance achievements." The award acknowledged DuPont for the successful introduction and commercialization of new globally approved technologies. DuPont has provided coatings systems to General Motors continuously for the last 99 years.

"There is no higher or more meaningful honor for us than to be recognized by our customers," says Marty M. McQuade, vice president and general manager — DuPont Automotive OEM Coatings. "Our technical collaboration with General Motors concerning coatings is just part of DuPont's ongoing global effort to grow with our automotive customers and contribute to their success wherever they operate."

In addition to paints and coatings, DuPont supports the global automotive and transportation industries with a vast array of products including elastomers for hoses, belts and other parts, engineering plastics for molded components, electronics products for microcircuits and flexible and printed circuits and a variety of polyester films. The DuPont offering also includes glass laminating products, fuel cell components, refrigerants and thermal protection materials. DuPont is working actively to introduce bio-based materials and fuels that reduce dependence on petroleum resources, reduce vehicle weight and improve fuel efficiency.

DuPont publicly established environmental goals 18 years ago and has broadened its sustainability commitments beyond internal footprint reduction to include market-driven targets for both revenue and research and development investment. The goals are tied directly to business growth, specifically to the development of safer and environmentally improved new products for key global markets.
