H&V Collision Centers goes solar, continues environmental improvements, efficiency

Jan. 1, 2020
H&V Collision Centers is continuing its efforts to improve environmental efficiency by utilizing solar energy to help power the H&V locations.

H&V Collision Centers, the largest independently owned collision repair facility in the Capital Region, is continuing its efforts to improve environmental efficiency by utilizing solar energy to help power the H&V locations.

H&V is working with Monolith Solar to install solar panels at H&V locations in Troy, Colonie, Queensbury and Saratoga. Monolith specializes in design, sales and services of solar systems for business and residential customers.

The panels installed by Monolith will convert sunlight into kilowatts to power the four H&V locations. H&V joins a growing trend of organizations, including schools, businesses, community organizations and agricultural businesses utilizing solar power to become more environmentally-friendly and reduce energy costs.

“H&V Collision Centers places a priority on being a good neighbor and increasing our environmental efficiency. The switch to solar continues those efforts, and will allow H&V to rely on more environmentally-friendly energy sources,” said H&V’s Vartan Jerian Jr.

“We take pride in providing a high level of customer service and satisfaction, and are excited that commitment to quality will be powered by cleaner and more efficient sources of energy,” added Jerian.

H&V Collision Center has made improving environmental efficiency a priority. In 2010, H&V became the first shop in New York State to be recognized by the Coordinating Committee for Automotive Repair for efforts in promoting environmental efficiency and safety. To be certified as CCAR GreenLink shops, organizations must demonstrate high standards in environmental, health and safety operations in four categories, including business operations, employee training, safety compliance and environmental management.

The utilization of solar power by H&V Collision Centers follows a switch by H&V to less toxic paints and processes, which is more environmentally-friendly and reduces emissions while maintaining high levels of quality. The switch involved a transition from solvent-based paints to waterborne paints at H&V.

About H&V Collision Centers:
H&V Collision Centers was started in the early 1970s by Vartan Jerian Sr., and today includes four locations throughout the Capital Region. H&V prides itself on customer service, and has earned a customer satisfaction ranking of over 97 percent. H&V also supports many community and charitable organizations, and H&V’s community service was recognized in a December 2012 cover story in the national trade magazine Fender Bender.

Along with expansion that positions H&V to be the largest multi-location collision repair operator in the Capital Region, H&V also implemented new technology and practices to make its four locations more environmentally safe. H&V also implemented modern management practices that reduced repair times and made its shops more efficient.
