I-CAR alters class registration and payment process

Jan. 12, 2012

PALM SPRINGS, CALIF., Jan. 12, 2012—I-CAR changed the way students register and pay for training in 2012 in order to simplify the registration process, improve the classroom experience, and update students’ records more quickly, the organization announced Thursday during the Collision Industry Conference (CIC) meeting in Palm Springs, Calif.

I-CAR said it has made it easier for students to figure out the cost of classes by switching from a points system to a credit hour system. I-CAR’s traditional points system has been retired, and all courses will now instead carry specified credit hours. For example, three credit hours will replace one point for a regular I-CAR class. The typical online class that earned .25 points under the old system in 2011 will now be one credit hour in 2012.

Class pricing will now be the price per credit hour, multiplied by the number of credit hours per class, according to I-CAR. Gold Class pricing for live classes will remain the same in 2012, but will be reduced for online classes. Visit I-CAR’s website for more information on 2012 pricing.

Students are also now required to pre-register for courses in order to decrease paperwork in the classroom and promote the timely start of classes. I-CAR said students should register one week in advance to ensure the instructor has ample time to prepare class materials.

Online registration is the easiest and most inexpensive way to pre-register, I-CAR said, but assisted registration is still available through the organization’s Customer Care at a slightly higher price.

In addition, I-CAR said coupon sales for classes ended Dec. 31, 2011 in order to save students’ time and simplify the payment process. e-codes will now be sold instead of coupons in 2012, which can be used as payment for pre-registration. e-codes can be purchased in quantities of 10 or more for live training, and 30 or more for online training. e-codes for live training will be identifiable by numeric codes, while e-codes for online training will be identifiable by the letters “OLT.” Contact I-CAR’s Customer Care at [email protected] to purchase e-codes.

Coupon codes purchased prior to Dec. 31, 2011 can still be used for payment when pre-registering, according to I-CAR.

I-CAR said the goal of these changes is to reduce administrative time in the classroom, shorten the time it takes to post the credits students have earned, and simplify the course scheduling process. Delays due to processing and administrative duties will be minimized by moving all registration and payment online and in advance of classes.
