Feb. 14, 2011 — I-CAR on Feb. 28 plans to roll out a new course focused on analysis of vehicle damage from hail, theft and vandalism.
The instructor-led course will cover analysis procedures for a variety of damages including fluid contamination, finish issues, interior and under-hood damage, rodent infestation and hail damage. Students will be instructed on how to recognize commonly stolen vehicles and associated parts, how to distinguish between theft and prior damage and how to identify weather-related damage. Whether to repair or replace certain parts will also be discussed.
“Understanding the source of damage is one of the first steps in determining proper repair options for a vehicle,” said Jeff Peevy, I-CAR director of field operations. “Understanding these procedures can improve overall estimating accuracy and help create a proper repair plan.”
