Plastic Nitrogen Welding to be Added to SkillsUSA

March 29, 2017—The SkillsUSA collision repair competition recently formally announced that in 2018 plastic nitrogen welding will be added to the event. At the event, aspiring technicians will be challenged to repair a tear with the innovative welding equipment.

According to SkillsUSA, beginning with the 2018 competition competitors’ challenges as they pertain to plastic nitrogen welding will include but not be limited to: addressing a complete tear repair on a plastic vehicle part using a plastic nitrogen welder by demonstrating the proper safety procedures, properly cleaning a plastic part before making any repairs, and selecting the proper welding rod.
