Promoting the environmental and economic benefits of using retreaded tires, the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) will join forces with the U.S. General Services Administration at an April 21 Earth Week event in Philadelphia.
The GSA is using its government-wide influence to reduce the environmental impact of the federal government as part of its Sustainability Plan. The plan, the significant cost savings of retreaded tires, and Executive Order 13149 (Greening the Government Through Federal Fleet and Transportation Efficiency), provide three “powerful incentives” for the use of retreaded tires by federal fleets, according to Managing Director, David Stevens, TRIB’s managing director.
“Every year in North America, the use of retreaded tires saves hundreds of millions of gallons of oil, keeps millions of tires out of landfills and significantly reduces carbon emissions,” says Stevens.
“TRIB continues to do all we can to promote the environmental and economic benefits of retreaded tires,” he adds, “and we’re pleased to partner with the GSA to spread this message to the federal government.”
