Kim Holcomb, Chief Financial Officer of Curry's Auto
Service, headquartered in Sterling, Virginia, was named the
CFO of the Year in the Business Services category by the
Washington Business Journal on December
6.
Holcomb joined Curry's Auto Service in 2008 as Chief
Financial Officer. With a staff of three in the financial
department, Holcomb oversees the budget for the $13 million
company that is growing rapidly and is one of largest
independent automotive service and repair companies in the
DC area. Curry's Auto Service operates six shops across
Northern Virginia: in Arlington, Chantilly, Dulles Town
Center, Falls Church, Gainesville and Great Falls.
In a depression and in an industry experiencing
contraction, Curry's Auto Service has grown in sales and
profitability and reduced its debt. Under Holcomb's tenure,
company gross revenues have increased from $7.6 million in
2008 to $10.1 million in 2009 and a projected $13.4 million
in 2010. Net profit has increased from $114,232 in 2008 to
$617,920 in 2009 and a projected $1.3 million for 2010. The
number of stores has increased from four to six and the
number of employees from 50 to 78.
Because of its growth, Curry's Auto Service was named to the
Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in the
U.S for 2010. Curry's ranked number 3972 with a 33% increase
in revenues between 2006 and 2009.
Holcomb's honor as CFO of the Year came just three days
after Matt and Judy Curry, owners of Curry's Auto, were
featured in the December 3 Washington Business Journal for
their "BizSmarts." Their auto smarts recently won them .
