Car-X Auto Service launched its first website in 1994 and capitalized on chaning Internet marketing ideas with a new approach to the site just a few years ago. The investment has paid off with an even newer site being unveiled now, 16 years after the first launch.

The website, www.carx.com, is rapidly becoming one of the most important communication tools in the company's marketing mix, it reports. In addition to general information about Car-X and its services, the most critical functions of the website are to provide customers with easy access to store locations and coupons.

It is an obvious goal, the company states, to make it as easy as possible for site visitors to find the nearest Car-X Auto Service center and to find coupons for that store. Coupons are a proven tool that drives customers to purchase and creates a metric to measure the process of converting website visitors to paying customers. Each Car-X market has a targeted local website to maximize search results and position Car-X locations as trusted members of their community.

In 2009 Car-X began work with Nova Libra, a Chicago-based Web developer, and Evolve, a St. Louis-based search engine marketing firm, to redesign and adapt the website to engage fully in SEO opportunities, social media, local search and conversion tracking. Evolve and Car-X are creating and developing new channels of communication for the consumer, with the end goal to take the fear out of auto repair.

Car-X's goal was to provide a very user-friendly site that gives the consumer all the information needed about any auto repair to minimize worry and stress.

“We want to continue the one on one connection we have with each customer,” adds Rich Brayer, vice president, marketing for Car-X Auto Service. “We have about 70 percentof our customers return to us for service, and the frequency of their visits depends on age, mileage, condition and number of vehicles in the family. We know that consumers use our website to check for locations, hours and, special offers; but for people who don’t have a reliable complete auto repair provider we must engage in all forms of social and mobile media to connect with customers and share the 35 year history of the Car-X message — 'Don’t Worry Call the Car-X Man.'”

Car-X Auto Service was founded in 1971 and during the early years Car-X was primarily an exhaust specialist. Today the company has adapted to providing just about any automotive repair. Car-X Auto Service has 174 locations.
