Enhancing the tire segment’s presence at the 2010 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas is a top priority for the Tire Industry Association (TIA).

“The SEMA show is a valuable resource for our industry,” says TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield. “We look forward to making it an even better destination for exhibitors and attendees.”

In December TIA officials hosted a focus group of executives representing key tire makers.

“The meeting was very productive and TIA is currently working with these manufacturers to compile a list of recommendations, and (we) will reconvene later this month to discuss them,” Littlefield reports.

The recommendations will subsequently be submitted to SEMA Show organizers “for their review and response,” he says.

“It is hoped that these recommendations can be implemented in time for this year’s show,” notes Littlefield.

“During the focus group, manufacturer representatives expressed their sincere appreciation for the efforts that TIA was making to address their concerns, and the fact that they assimilated such an impressive group to discuss such important topics,” he explains. “This may lead to further meetings on other topics of vital importance to the tire industry.”

Littlefield goes on to point out that the TIA “wants to show tire manufacturers that we are serious about gaining their input on how the SEMA Show can be made even better, and we believe last month’s focus group is a solid first step.”
