Certain models of air compressors and pressure washers from the DeVilbiss Air Power Co. of Jackson, Tenn. are being recalled, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The latest recall augments a December 2006 action involving some 620,000 pressure washers and 72,000 compressors following reports of 26 injuries suffered by users, the CPSC says.

DeVilbiss subsequently received more than 100 injury reports, including hand and finger fractures and lacerations, minor property damage and damage to vehicles, the agency says.

Only pressure washers and compressors with pneumatic tires with plastic tire hubs are involved in the recall; the plastic hubs can burst. Units with solid tires or metal tire hubs are excluded.

The recalled pressure washers were sold from January 2004 through November 2005 for between $300 and $1,400. The recalled air compressors were sold between December 2004 and October 2006 for between $300 and $500.

Owners of the units should stop using them and contact DeVilbiss to obtain a free replacement of the tires, the CPSC says.
