Colony Tire Corp., headquartered in Edenton, N.C., has signed-on as the newest Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT) franchisee.

“At Colony Tire, our primary objective is to exceed our customer’s expectations for products and service,” says CEO Charlie Creighton. “MRT’s process and product offerings are a perfect match for that objective. Our customers demand high-quality retreads, and MRT enables us to provide those products, which support our customers’ long-term growth and prosperity.”

Twenty Colony commercial facilities are to be covered by the agreement, which becomes operational by the end of May.

Now a multi-million dollar business, Colony started out in 1976 with just two gasoline pumps in Rodanthe, N.C., Creighton recounts, noting that currently more than 500 employees associates operate 225 vehicles and 40 locations throughout North Carolina and Virginia.

“By pursuing long-term growth and prosperity for our customers, we will succeed individually and as a company,” he says.

With Colony now onboard, MRT has 46 franchisees serving the North American market.

“Our MRT retreading process supplies the highest quality retreads to trucking fleets and public transportation vehicles, enabling them to reduce their operating costs,” says Tom Brennan, MRT’s vice president and director. “Demand for MRT products, including our Michelin X One wide single retreads, is increasing – and Colony Tire will help meet that demand.”
