For the second year in a row, Pirelli has been declared a “world sector leader” in the “Autoparts and Tyres” segment, as well as being a “Gold Class Company,” in the Sustainability Yearbook 2009 published by the SAM Group with Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
The yearbook stands out as a complete, worldwide publication on sustainability and corporate performance trends, representing an authoritative tool for sustainable finance professionals, according to Pirelli executives. “It only includes companies that distinguish themselves with excellence in sustainability; only 15 percent of listed companies in 57 industry categories are included following SAM’s review.”
SAM (Sustainable Asset Management) is the Swiss ethical rating agency which selects companies for admission to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, a global index that groups together the best companies in terms of economic, financial, environmental and social sustainability.
Pirelli was selected for Dow Jones’ Sustainability STOXX index for the first time in 2002. It has also been included for several years in the Dow Jones Sustainability World index.
