Toyo gets ISO certification, breaks ground on expansion of Ga. plant
Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing, Inc. has received ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System Standards certification by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance.
Located in White, Ga., the 900,000-square-foot Toyo facility was established in June 2004 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas, Inc. The plant produces both the Toyo and Nitto tire brands.
“This certification represents Toyo’s commitment to meeting stringent international standards by delivering the utmost quality and consistency both for our dealers and the consumer,” says Jim Hawk, Toyo North America’s president and corporate officer. The factory “is a technologically advanced manufacturing facility with personnel that are dedicated to meeting these standards.”
High performance auto and light truck tires are manufactured at the state-of-the-art complex, he adds.
The ISO certification means that the facility meets high quality standards recognized the world over for producing tires, he notes. Toyo broke ground Aug. 26 for an 820,000-square-foot expansion to nearly double the size of the plant. With the increased space and machinery, annual output is expected to grow from two million units in 2008 to six million units in 2012.
Car and light truck tires are produced at the state-of-the-art complex, Hawk says.
