Dec. 19, 2011

Dec. 19, 2011—1-800 Radiator & A/C, a supplier of automotive radiators, condensers and air conditioning parts, recently announced its investment in two new product categories that the company expects will provide major growth.

1-800 Radiator & A/C purchased a $4 million San Diego-based distributor of brakes and undercar parts. The company also launched a major expansion into fuel pumps.

1-800 Radiator & A/C plans to integrate its proprietary systems into the undercar business, a $7 billion market, within the next 12 months. The company said it could rollout up to 500 undercar locations within the next five years, and will enter additional distribution markets if the initiative is successful.

Fuel pumps are expected to provide $15 million of sales in 2012, 1-800-Radiator & A/C said. The parts are being container purchased from China, and resold to roughly 20 percent of the company’s franchisees. 1-800 Radiator & A/C said it is also recruiting additional domestic suppliers.

Benicia, Calif.-based 1-800 Radiator & A/C holds 16 percent of the nation’s market share in replacement radiators, and 5 percent of the nation’s market share in air conditioning parts. The company said it has also invested in initiatives to significantly expand those categories in 2012.
