FTC sends refund claims to warranty fraud victims

Feb. 16, 2011

Feb. 16, 2011 — The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on Feb. 16 began mailing claim forms to nearly 12,000 people who bought false auto warranties through automated calls made by Voice Touch Inc. and its related parties.

The FTC alleged that Transcontinental Warranty Inc. hired Voice Touch in 2009 to bombard consumers with the deceptive calls. Through a series of settlements, Voice Touch was required to pay $3 million in consumer refunds and, along with Transcontinental Warranty, was permanently banned from telemarketing.

Anyone who receives a claim form has 60 days to complete and return it to the claims administrator, Analytics Inc., at the address listed. The refund amount for each consumer will be determined after the forms are returned.

Questions about the form should be directed to Analytics Inc. at 1-877-720-5908. For more information, go to ftc.gov/refunds.
