SkyBitz®, a leader in remote asset tracking and information management solutions, was selected as a Telematics Awards 2010 finalist in the “Best Telematics Service & Applications for Commercial Vehicles” category for the company’s GLS400 Mobile Terminal.

Every year the Telematics Awards, organized by Telematics Update, recognizes the key companies that are driving the industry forward and pushing the boundaries in GPS technology.

The SkyBitz GLS400 Mobile Terminal is the next generation of the company’s industry-leading machine-to-machine (M2M) asset tracking solution that provides a lower overall total cost of ownership through increased power efficiency, reliability, ruggedness and service life, according to the manufacturer. The solution delivers the visibility required to optimize operations within transportation and other markets that rely on heavy equipment or remote assets.

“Recognition by Telematics Update for our latest innovative technology solution, the GLS400, further validates SkyBitz as the market leader for remote asset tracking,” says Craig Montgomery, senior vice president of Marketing and Business Development, SkyBitz. “At SkyBitz, we strive to deliver the highest quality solutions in a manner that creates bottom line value and meets or exceeds our customer’s expectations. We are honored to be included in this list among these other distinguished companies.”

An independent panel of industry experts from the digital automotive, mobile and Web industries analyzed the submissions and individually narrowed down each category to the list of finalists. This award aims to reward the best Telematics service provider for commercial vehicles management.

Telematics Update is an industry events producer, hosting the largest telematics events in North America and Europe. Winners will be revealed at an awards dinner on June 7, 2010, prior to the 10th annual Telematics Detroit 2010 Conference & Exhibition.
