The New England Service Station and Automotive Repair Association Inc. (NESSARA) will host a series of training sessions in February in Massachusetts. Four individual sessions, which will be held Feb. 8 through Feb. 11, are being presented to educate shops about original equipment manufacturer (OEM) service information opportunities.

Donny Seyfer, AAM, longtime Automotive Service Association (ASA) member, will lead the first sessions. The program will focus on access, cost and utilization of factory service information and tooling. Other valuable Web site resources will be covered as well. Attendees will be directed to www.NASTF.org and shown how to maximize its potential as a jump-off point or clearing house for OEM information and tooling.

“This is a unique training opportunity because I am a service technician and a bit of a computer geek. I will show real-world case studies to technicians rather than just what a Web site home page looks like," says Seyfer, who serves on ASA’s board of directors as a general director. "I’ve made a lot of friends in the New England area and I really enjoy the opportunity to sit down with small-shop owners and techs like me and help them hone their service information strategies. I have been able to work with the NESSARA leadership to put together the things they feel Massachusetts repair shops are looking for. We are going to spend our time looking at strategies to efficiently find service information for the most popular brands of vehicles. The class will also include live demonstrations of scan tools and software reprogramming.”

NASTF.org is the National Automotive Service Task Force’s Web site. NASTF is a not-for-profit, no-dues task force established to facilitate the identification and correction of gaps in the availability and accessibility of automotive service information, service training, diagnostic tools and equipment, and communications for the benefit of automotive service professionals. NASTF is a voluntary, cooperative effort among the automotive service industry, the equipment and tool industry, and automotive manufacturers.
