Chilton, part of Cengage Learning, has released the Chilton 2010 Labor Guide Manuals and CD-ROM. Available in CD-ROM format (1-1110-3611-X) or as a printed domestic and import manual set (1-1110-3608-X,), the Chilton 2010 Labor Guide covers more than two decades of repair time information for vehicle models from 1981 through 2010.

The Chilton 2010 Labor Guide Manuals and CD-ROM contain accurate labor times and conform to current Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) standards, according to the company. In addition to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and standard labor times that most guides offer, Chilton offers "severe" labor times for vehicles that have been driven in harsh conditions. This additional information helps service writers create more accurate estimates, it adds.

Included this year in the Chilton 2010 Labor Guide CD-ROM is a quick search function, which allows users to select a year, make and model, and be taken directly to the labor information they need. There is also a keyword search feature which allows users to input a search term and quickly find the information they need within the database. As with previous editions, the CD-ROM includes the option to create professional job estimates with automatic calculations of labor charges, parts and taxes. An easy-to-read parts list simplifies adding parts to estimates and work orders.

The system also keeps track of customers, prior estimates and parts or package jobs for quick and easy reference. A calendar feature allows users to quickly locate work requests by day, week and month.

The printed Chilton 2010 Labor Guide Manual Set is split into two convenient volumes – domestic and imported vehicles – and together they include more than 2,500 pages of updated labor time information. Within each volume, users will find information quickly with tabs displaying contents by manufacturer and model, with manufacturers arranged alphabetically. There are also two indexes – labor operations and systems – in each model group, and a page numbering system that includes the manufacturer code so users can always determine where they are within the manual.
