They want someone who is trustworthy to work on their car, and like it or not, appearance is part of that.

The Automotive Service Association of Missouri/Kansas at its 2009 VISION Hi-Tech Training & Expo recognized the best dressed, giving the honor to Rick's Automotive of Springfield, Mo. The shop had 23 employees dressed in khaki pants and blue dress shirts embroidered with the Rick's Automotive logo.

"We are excited to continue raising the image of our industry. Many shops will have their owners, managers and technicians attend VISION in company dress shirts. They have a very clean and professional image," says Jerry Holcom, ASA Missouri/Kansas awards committee chairman. "We want to recognize those shops and their employees, as well as encourage other service professionals to help us raise awareness and professionalism in our industry."

Simple things like making sure your techs' uniforms are clean (taking into consideration they will get dirty but using good judgment) will go a long way with customers. And having set shirts and pants for your service techs also can boost customer confidence in your employees.
