Korea’s Dongah Tire & Rubber Corp. has changed the name of its newly acquired Vibration Management Systems (VMS) unit to DTR VMS Ltd.
Avon Automotive sold VMS to Dongah in December.
DTR VMS, which provides automotive vibration-management technology, will continue to operate from its Chippenham, England headquarters.
“The name is designed to place the new business unit under a single DTR – Dongah Tire & Rubber – identity and underscores the continued growth of our company,” says Sang-Hun Kim, Dongah’s president and CEO. “I am confident that ‘DTR VMS Ltd.’ will enable us to build on our strengths and align our performance even more closely with our customers’ expectations and demands.”
The division produces engine and suspension mounts, mass dampers, tank track pads and other vibration management products to automotive and defense customers in Europe and North America. Revenues for 2008 totaled about $60 million.
Dongah is headquartered in Yusan, South Korea. The company has more than 3,000 employees with annual sales exceeding $500 million. DTR VMS employs more than 300 people with plants in South Korea, China and England. The company has technical centers in Jinju, South Korea; Taylor, Mich. and Chippenham.
