Improving fuel savings is one of the most important goals of any fleet on the road today. Every fleet is looking for new ways to improve fuel economy, regardless if it is a line haul tractor, city tractor, or even a school bus fleet. A white paper entitled, “Improving Alternator Efficiency Measurably Reduces Fuel Costs,” was published by Remy Inc.

The white paper provides an in-depth explanation of how an alternator works, examines where and how power losses can occur within the alternator and quantifies how efficiency plays a role in fuel consumption. Actual vehicle test data is provided to support the cost savings that can be experienced when upgrading to a higher efficiency alternator.

“With the high price of fuel, fleet and vehicle owners should not ignore this important parameter associated to alternator efficiency,” explains Mike Bradfield, author of the white paper and Staff Engineer at Remy Inc. “Increasing alternator efficiency can, and will, measurably reduce fuel costs.”

The white paper can be downloaded from the Delco Remy Web site at www.delcoremy.com/AlternatorsHighEff.aspx. High efficiency Delco Remy alternators specifications can be accessed from this page as well. For more information, visit www.delcoremy.com.
