Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire and the Tire Industry Association (TIA) have joined forces to offer the TIA’s Basic Automotive Training Service (ATS) course via the Bridgestone Consumer Tire Education Network.

New hires and experienced technicians require some form of documented training, and the ATS program is designed to meet that need, according to TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield.

The Basic ATS course is comprised of eight modules covering topics such as the basic principles of tires and wheels (including sizing and sidewall information), diagnosing tire and wheel problems and step-by-step procedures for performing one-piece and two-piece nail hole repairs on car and light truck tires.

“TIA is proud to offer Bridgestone-brand dealers the opportunity to take advantage of our superior Basic ATS course from the convenience of their computers,” says Littlefield. “This is yet another example of TIA meeting the ever-changing needs of the tire industry.”

“Our dealers recognize that a well-educated, trained staff is essential to attracting and retaining discerning customers,” notes Phil Pacsi, Bridgestone Firestone’s vice president of consumer marketing.

He says the company “is committed to making retail education more effective and more convenient for dealers and their employees through our Bridgestone Consumer Tire Education Network. The addition of the TIA ATS course provides practical, easily accessible, and engaging content to help our dealers develop the skills of their employees.”

Bridgestone dealers interested in learning more about the offering should contact your area sales manager and visit www.tireindustry.org.
