The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Board of Directors has changed the name of the Sport-Compact Council (SCC) to the Street Performance Council (SPC). This new council name serves to include the diverse street-performance industry, which creates a broader market and provides new growth and educational opportunities for the council. "As SEMA itself has expanded to include different facets of the automotive aftermarket, the street-performance parts manufacturers and distributors didn't have an exclusive council representing their interests," SPC Chairman Eric Breslow remarks. "Some gravitated to the Sport-Compact Council (formed in 2002), but with our new name, member benefits and initiatives, we welcome those diverse companies with open arms." SEMA says that through the support and efforts of the SEMA board, committee and staff members, in adapting to the volatile economy today, the inclusion of the street-performance sector will bring new knowledge and expertise and enable the council to better serve its members.
