Factory Bulletin

ACURA: 2004-08 TL

SUBJECT: A safety recall has been launched to replace power steering hoses that can leak fluid onto the catalytic converter and cause a fire. There have been several recalls for this problem on other Acura (and Honda) models, but not all vehicles are included. This nine-page bulletin includes a list of affected TL-model VINs plus complete illustrated instructions for replacing the hose. Bulletin 08-016

HONDA/ACURA: 1998-2003 Accord, 1999-2003 Odyssey, 2003 Pilot, with V6 engine

SUBJECT: A wide variety of oil leaks on Honda/Acura V6 engines might be due to porous engine castings. The bulletin describes a procedure for pressure testing the assembled engine using the company's VTEC system test tool. It also describes other tests that don't require special tools and includes several illustrations showing where to look for leaks. Those leaks can be repaired using commercially available sealers, but the bulletin recommends JB Weld or 3-Bond. Bulletin 01-009

ACURA: 2004-05 TL

SUBJECT: A safety recall has been launched to replace/repair windshield wiper motors. According to the bulletin, water can enter a breather port on the motor and cause enough corrosion to eventually render the motor inoperative. The repair involves installing a wiper motor "kit" or replacing the whole windshield wiper assembly. Not all vehicles are included in this recall. The bulletin includes a list of affected VINs plus illustrations and complete diagnostic and repair instructions. Bulletin 08-013

FORD: All 2004 and later with three-valve engine

SUBJECT: Broken spark plugs are a well known problem on Ford engines that use extended reach spark plugs. A new tool and procedures have been released for removing the broken portion. The bulletin includes part numbers, Rotunda tool numbers (also available directly from Snap-on) and complete instructions for removing broken spark plugs. It also includes instructions for minimizing the problem when installing new spark plugs. Bulletin 08-7-6

GENERAL MOTORS: 1997-2003 Buick Regal, Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with 3.8L Supercharged (VIN 1) engine

SUBJECT: A safety recall has been launched to repair an engine oil leak. On some vehicles, oil leaks from a valve cover gasket onto a hot exhaust manifold. Under the right conditions, this can cause a fire. Not all vehicles are included in this recall. The 18-page bulletin includes a list of affected VINs plus illustrations and complete repair instructions. Recall 07035

HONDA: 2005 Accord V6

SUBJECT: MIL illumination with P0301 and P0305 might be caused by an incorrect CKP high-speed learned value. Code P0300 may also be displayed. The problem happens after disconnecting the battery for any reason, and it can be corrected by reprogramming the PCM. Four different models are affected (not hybrid models), and the bulletin includes program part numbers for each model, but no programming instructions. Bulletin 08-022

MINI COOPER: 2007 Cooper, Cooper S (R56)

SUBJECT: DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) warning light illumination with fault code 5DBF indicates problems with the steering column switch cluster or the electric power steering system. A further indication of the problem is that the turn signals will not cancel. The problem is caused by chemical fogging of the optical steering wheel position sensor due to out-gassing of the plastic materials in the steering wheel/column assembly. The sensor cannot be cleaned, but it can be replaced. The bulletin includes part numbers, illustrations and repair instructions. Bulletin SI M 34 01 07
