The Automotive Service Association (ASA) will host its next free Service Information Workshop in Rhode Island.

The Rhode Island workshop will be held June 25 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the New England Tech Automotive Center in Warwick, R.I. Additional information, including driving directions, is available online at www.ASAshop.org/KEYS/ri_warwick.htm.

“These workshops offer something for everyone. Whether you are the shop owner or an employee at any level, you will benefit from the information shared during these sessions,” says Bill Haas, ASA’s vice president of education and training. “With the multitude of service information resources and the variety of formats in which it is delivered, shops need to be prepared well in advance to locate the right information at the right time.”

The educational agenda includes discussions on computers and Internet resources necessary to access service information; manufacturer and third-party Web sites; diagnostic tools that may assist in handling a repair most efficiently; and the role of the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF). Attendees are encouraged to ask questions to address specific service information issues they have experienced. When space and equipment are available, these meetings may also include the opportunity for attendees to view a live vehicle reprogramming demonstration. Attendees are also eligible to participate in drawings for training videos and subscriptions to OEM service information Web sites.

ASA reports that it believes the current voluntary, industry-supported service information process protects independent repairers and consumers by allowing them access to the same information available to manufacturers and dealers. These workshops are part of ASA’s efforts to educate shop owners and technicians about current systems and how they can manage the many service information options available to them.

Additional workshops are scheduled for Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Florida. For specific dates, locations and times, visit www.ASAshop.org/KEYS.
