Enerpulse, Inc. is encouraging automotive shops and retailers to promote fuel economy-based Father’s Day gifts rather than the typical cologne, neckties and golf balls. The company, not surprisingly, suggests its Pulstar product as an especially presentable present for anyone seeking a better-performing vehicle. “When you consider that Pulstar pulse plugs can improve Dad’s gas mileage by an average of 6 percent or 2 to 4 mpg, and make his car a lot more fun to drive, it’s a no-brainer,” says Daniel Parker, Enerpulse’s CEO. “Plus, he'll be doing the environment a favor by reducing carbon greenhouse gas by nearly 1,000 pounds per year. Unlike spark plugs, pulse plugs have an integrated electrical circuit called a capacitor. The capacitor increases energy to the spark, similar to a camera flash boosting light output for a photograph. A fully robust spark is produced to significantly improve engine combustion, thus yielding better fuel economy and engine performance, according to Parker. Dynamometer tests utilizing the Environmental Protection Agency fuel economy protocol (EPA US06) demonstrate significant gains in fuel economy, horsepower and acceleration, he contends. When compared to factory installed spark plugs in a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta GLI, Pulstar generated 13 percent improvement in fuel economy, 4 percent more horsepower and 11 percent faster acceleration. Even a 2007 Toyota Prius delivered 6 percent fuel economy, 3 percent more horsepower and 5 percent faster acceleration. At an additional 3 mpg, the potential savings at the pump could be as high as $7 for a 15-gallon tank, he notes. “That’s what makes Pulstar such a great gift,” says Parker. “Dad saves money on fuel while getting a boost in performance. Not bad for a $150.” For more information, visit www.pulstar.com. |
