Honeywell Transportation Systems has announced the formation of a new Friction Materials Business Unit, which will be led by Rainer Bostel, a 21-year veteran of Honeywell. The decision to separate the Friction Materials business from Honeywell's Consumer Products Group business unit was the result of an assessment that included more than 120 customer interviews and direct feedback from suppliers and channel partners.

According to the company, the new business unit will provide greater value to its customers and strengthen its operations. "This in-depth analysis will allow us to operate more effectively and in turn, bring more value to our customers," says Adriane Brown, president and CEO of Honeywell Transportation Systems. "We now have a clear path to building on our current capabilities. Within our new structure, we plan to immediately mitigate capacity constraints through investments as well as improve factory quality and output."

Bostel, a 21-year veteran within Honeywell, has been named president of the recently formed business unit. Previously, Bostel served as leader of Honeywell's Home Environmental Controls business unit in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
