As future technicians make their plans to further their education and plan their careers, two industry groups are preparing to help them financially with a scholarship program. Originally introduced as the CCC Outstanding Student Technician Scholarship in 2006, CCC Information Services, in conjunction with the I-CAR Education Foundation, is again offering the CCC Michael Salvatore Memorial Student Repair Technician Scholarship Program. The scholarship was renamed in 2007 to honor longtime CCC team member Michael Salvatore. "Retaining and recruiting technicians remains a critical challenge," says CCC Automotive Services Group Senior Vice President Jim Dickens. "The concept behind the CCC Michael Salvatore Memorial Student Repair Technician Scholarship Program is to help ensure that the best and brightest student technicians remain in school and continue working in the collision industry. Our company is proud to reaffirm our commitment and support the people who may make a big difference for all of us in the future." In addition to the scholarship program, CCC supports the I-CAR Education Foundation through a donation presented annually at NACE. The CCC Michael Salvatore Memorial Student Repair Technician Scholarship Program will award scholarships to students currently enrolled at five schools, and has a combined value of $25,000. Schools participating in the CCC Outstanding Student Technician Scholarship program were selected based on criteria that include ASE-certification, curriculum and geographic location.
