EDUCATION & TRAINING
AWDA Adds Telematics Session to Industry Week ConferenceBETHESDA, MD (Aug. 31, 2007) - The Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA) has added an education session on telematics to the Sunday afternoon, Oct. 28, Business Education Conference program in Las Vegas. AWDA will present a panel discussion, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., on the challenges and opportunities posed by the increasing use of telematics technology. Panelists are currently being finalized, but they will include representatives from technology leader Delphi, as well as others who will address the needs of distributors and service/repair specialists. Currently 25 brands of vehicles represent more than 100 models that offer telematics technology as standard or optional equipment. Telematics-enabled vehicles are projected to grow significantly in the next decade, and eventually form a "telematics-network" that could be a big break for service and application providers. The technology provides automakers with great opportunities to connect with motorists, and has the potential to drive many more vehicles to dealer service bays. In the opinion of AWDA, the aftermarket will face the challenge of securing a place in the telematics network.(Source: AWDA)
