CHICAGO (May 31, 2007) - Working with a theme of "eBusiness Innovations Driving Aftermarket Growth," organizers of the 2007 Aftermarket eForum say the three-day program recognizes the industry's need to use today's technology to increase sales, communicate better, maximize the effectiveness of inventory investment, and streamline their e-business strategies, business efficiencies and other operations. The eForum will be held July 16 to 18 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Chicago. The agenda includes track sessions scheduled on Monday afternoon (July 16), a full-day of general sessions on Tuesday (July 17), and a half-day of breakout sessions on Wednesday morning (July 18). Attendees can obtain an updated copy of the agenda online at

Jeff Spitzer
(Photo: ACDelco) ACDelco to discuss blended training The delivery of timely and relevant technician training is the challenge facing the aftermarket, says ACDelco. The company has embraced a "blended learning" approach to training - mixing hands-on classroom learning with Web-based seminar instruction. Jeff Spitzer, ACDelco director of Service and Business Support for GM's Service and Parts Operations, will discuss the process ACDelco went through to achieve the transition. "Technology in the automotive aftermarket is exploding," says Spitzer. "Shop owners who don't stay current are in real jeopardy. To stay viable, they must stay ahead of the learning curve." In a breakout session, Spitzer will demonstrate how shops can shorten the curve and still acquire the education needed to remain competitive, now and in the future.

(Photo: CARQUEST) CARQUEST: Information is the enabler Joe Zucchero, senior vice president and chief information officer (CIO) of General Parts International Inc. (CARQUEST) will provide the final presentation on Day Two. According to Zucchero, technology does not exist for technology's sake, nor should technology be deployed because it's trendy or cool. Rather, he says, technology is nothing more than an enabler - but a key enabler. He says that e-commerce throughout the entire aftermarket value chain is the key to making it easy to do business with companies such as CARQUEST and Worldpac. "It's no longer just about quality, price and availability," says Zucchero. "Those factors are still extremely important, and will continue to be for a long time. It's also about the information." Online registration available For the first-time ever, eForum registration is now available online at www.aftermarketeforum.com. Visitors also have the option of downloading a PDF registration form that can be sent via fax or mail. The Web site also has a copy of the 2007 Aftermarket eForum brochure, an up-to-date schedule, presentation descriptions and speaker bios. (Source: Aftermarket eForum)
