CALENDAR OF EVENTSAAIA Announces Legislative Summit Details BETHESDA, MD (Jan. 24, 2007) - The independent aftermarket will have a chance to turn up the heat in Washington, says the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), during the upcoming 2007 Aftermarket Legislative Summit. Scheduled for June 12 and13, 2007, the event will be headquartered at The Washington Court Hotel. The biennial summit offers an opportunity for aftermarket professionals to come to Capitol Hill to meet with key congressional leaders and discuss issues that affect and impact their businesses. Front and center on the agenda for the 2007 summit is the Motor Vehicle Owners' Right to Repair Act. However, asbestos litigation reform, the rising costs of health insurance and increased funding for vocational educations also could be addressed during the meeting. There is no cost to attend, and AAIA will provide coaching on June 12 for participants to prepare them for their congressional visits. There will be a legislative reception held the evening of June 12 that will provide an informal setting to meet legislators and their staff. Attendees will spend the day on Wednesday, June 13, walking the halls of Congress and meeting their elected officials. The summit staff will set up appointments for participants with their district representative and two U.S. senators. Additional information and online registration is available at www.aftermarket.org. AAIA advises that to ensure appointments with appropriate members of Congress and to reserve a room at the hotel, interested parties should register by May 1, 2007.(Source: AAIA)
