2006 Board Elections

BEDFORD, TX (Jan. 2, 2006) - The Automotive Service Association (ASA) opened the ballots this week for its national board of directors. All regular members of ASA are asked to cast their votes for candidates through Feb. 28, 2006 by calling a toll-free telephone number or through a secure voting site accessed from ASA's Web site.

One General Director position, as well as the positions of Collision Division Director and Mechanical Division Director, are up for election this year. Official candidates for the General Director position are:

* Ben K. Steinman, AAM, owner of Ben's Auto Body Inc. in Mexico, MO.

* Daniel S. Guido, AAM, owner of Tony's Service Center Inc. in Phoenix.

* Thomas D. Layman, owner of Multistate Transmissions in Waterford, MI.

Darrell Amberson, president of Lehman's Garage in Bloomington, MN, is running for Collision Division Director. Earl Dohner, AAM, owner of E&E's Garage in Brookville, OH is running for the Mechanical Division Director position.

ASA advises that all regular members in good standing are eligible to cast their votes for the position of ASA general director. However, only members of the collision and mechanical divisions separately can vote on the positions of their respective division director. Members were assigned to the appropriate division based on the information they provided when they joined the association.

Whether by phone or via the Internet, ASA members can vote by entering their member number plus a three-digit security code number. These numbers can be found on the mailing labels of the December 2005 and January/February 2006 issues of AutoInc., ASA's member publication. The member number and security code are directly above the addressee's full name and enclosed by parentheses ( ), for example: (123456 789).

Candidate bios and campaign messages, as well as the online voting form, are available at www.asashop.org.
