In its effort to help its customers maximize work
flow and optimize paint and material profit
margins,
DuPont
Performance Coatings (DPC) is now offering two
courses to help repairers. These courses are
targeted to the paint and the production/general
manager roles.
During the first course, Optimizing Paint &
Material Systems, attendees will learn a set of
simple problem solving skills and various tools to
be able to identify flow or profitability related
problems, to identify their root cause, to refine
the problem statement to select the best path for
improvement, and how to control the system to
sustain the improvement. Attendees also will be
trained how to build and refine per department
quality standards and work standards. Following
this discussion, they will review DPC’s “Systems
Approach” and will learn an ROI analysis to review
DPC’s various best practices.
In the second Optimizing Paint & Material
Systems course, attendees will review solid
accounting practices for jobber invoice coding,
inventory management, month-end procedures and
material budgeting. Attendees will learn about
DPC’s lean systems for managing inventories using a
leveling or kanban fulfillment system.
Finally, this course will offer insights for
painters or the manager on how to properly justify
paint labor and paint and material sales related
items, so they “write-it-right” and assure they get
paid for items that are often missed on a damage
analysis.
“Both courses are highly interactive and feature
exercises to prepare attendees to return to the
repair center to implement the concepts learned,”
said Steve Trapp, collision services development
manager. He continued, “With many customers
upgrading to DPC brand waterborne products, it is a
great time to evaluate the systems and learn
innovative best practices from our lean
implementation efforts and other continuous
improvement exercises, which can improve work flow
and optimize paint and material profits for our
customers using a DPC brand product.”
