Maryland repairer seeks donations for state SkillsUSA competition

Beth Meckel of Mile One Collision Center in Maryland and a representative of the Collision Repair Technology Committee Metal Repair segment of the Maryland State SkillsUSA Competition, is raising funds for the competition.

The Maryland SkillsUSA Collision Repair Technology and Automotive Refinishing Technology Committees is raising funds and seeking tool donations for the 38 competitors who will compete March 26, 2011, at The Center of Applied Technology North in Severn, Md. The funds and tools will be used as prizes for the student competitors who participate in this event.

SkillsUSA is a national organization serving more than 264,000 high school and college students and professional members who are enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations. SkillsUSA Maryland currently has 5,500 members statewide.

SkillsUSA prepares America's future workers. It provides education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development. It builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes and communications skills.

Checks should be sent by Feb. 28, 2011, to Meckel at Mile One Collision Center, 99 Holsum Way, Glen Burnie, Md. 21060. Make checks payable to Skills USA and make sure collision and refinish is in the memo line. For more information, contact Meckel at 410-553-9992.
