Volkswagen of America said that I-CAR training
courses and the in-shop I-CAR Steel GMA (MIG) Welding
Qualification Series are required components of the Volkswagen-Certified Collision Repair Facility Program. This program provides VW-certification for collision repair facilities that perform body repairs in accordance with Volkswagen’s safety standards and specifications.
Dan Ducharme, parts specialist for Volkswagen of America said,
"I-CAR training will equip collision repair facility technicians
with the necessary knowledge to repair our vehicles to factory
standards. If a body shop follows Volkswagen standards and
specifications, they can positively impact the customer
experience and help maintain the vehicle resale value."
Body technicians will receive I-CAR training on advanced steel
properties, structural part repair and replacement, procedures
for corrosion protection during the collision repair process, as
well as comprehensive welding instructions that includes theory,
hands-on practice, and the in-shop I-CAR Steel GMA (MIG) Welding
Qualification Test. I-CAR training opportunities are offered as
either an instructor-led course taught in the classroom or an
online course.
Jason Bartanen, I-CAR technical director said, "I-CAR is pleased
to have the opportunity to partner with Volkswagen in their
training efforts. As a collision repair industry professional,
keeping pace with change in vehicle technology and design is
more important than ever and I-CAR is committed to providing the
most current collision repair training opportunities that will
meet industry needs."
