DuPont Performance Coating (DPC) has developed a new production management
pre-lean course with up-to-date best practices for three key
areas of repair center operations: blueprinting, parts
management and production controls.
The new production management pre-lean course is the latest
DuPont performance services (DPS) educational course aimed at
driving work through the repair center's door.
While DuPont was expanding its lean training
and consulting strategy, its team of experts learned that many
customers (prior to beginning their lean journey) were
experiencing waste that, if reduced or eliminated, could reduce
cycle time and the occurrences of supplements and improve
overall gross profit.
“Through lean project waste reduction efforts, we learned that
eliminating supplements and parts delays and using a push-based
production strategy were the repair center's greatest concerns.
In the course we offer best practices to solve these problems
and then a method to implement them in the attendees' repair
centers,” said Steve Trapp, manager – Collision Services
Development.
Repairers who have attended this course reported that they
picked up several great ideas to help them refine their
current-state processes.
DPC's business development managers have observed that those who
implemented these principles showed a reduction in cycle time
and in supplement frequency, as well as an increase in overall
gross profit. When these repairers moved forward with their lean
thinking transformation, they were able to use these process
improvement efforts as a foundation for future improvement.
