The Women's Industry Network's (WIN) first interactive employment webinar, "Demystifying Discrimination, Diversity and the Evolving Workforce," will be available to the entire industry.

The webinar originally aired July 27, 2010, and was made available to WIN members and sponsors. The session looked at best practices for recruiting and hiring top notch talent and navigating the 21st century workforce, with an emphasis on discrimination and harassment in the workplace, diversity in action and emerging issues in employment law. The presenters, members of the national law firm, Littler Mendelson, noted that with the ailing economy and staff increases at the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission), both EEOC and other employment discrimination claims and lawsuits are on the rise. Among the most interesting statistics, and certainly a sign of the times, is the proliferation of various forms of actionable workplace harassment claims, including male-on-male "hazing," bullying, and a 16.4 percent increase in 2009 in sexual harassment claims being brought by male employees.

"We are very proud of the favorable response we received from our members and sponsors who viewed the webinar," said Kim White, FinishMaster, who serves as WIN's Chair. White added, "Although this was originally offered as a 'members only' presentation, we have decided to offer a rebroadcast to the entire industry for a limited time. We know that businesses that are enlightened about employment law issues are good for women and good for the entire industry. For that reason, we are pleased to share this invaluable content with the greater industry."
