LEESBURG, Va. — The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) announced officers for their respective board of directors for 2009.
Joe Torchiana, One Stop Tire & Auto Service Inc., West Chester, Pa., continues as chair of ASE; with John Pfennig of Navistar, Warrenville, Ill., as vice chair. Barry Bronson of Valvoline, Lexington Ky., was named treasurer, and Jim Uffer, Truck Tech Inc., Plainfield, N.J., is secretary. Colorado shop owner Stan Elmore of Stan’s Automotive continues as past chair.
“The volunteer board members from the various segments within the automotive industry have always been one of the key strengths of ASE,” says Tim Zilke, ASE president and CEO. “The diversity of representation of these business segments is well reflected in ASE’s slate of officers for 2009.”
The National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) announced its 2009 board officers, which includes the first woman chair in the organization’s history. Lori Blaker, president of Technical Training Inc., Rochester Hills, Mich., assumes the NATEF chair position; with Bill Bergen of Toyota, Torrance, Calif., as vice chair; and Katharine Oliver of Baltimore as treasurer. Oliver is the assistant state superintendent for career technology and adult learning for the Maryland Department of Education.
“We welcome our 2009 officers and are particularly pleased to announce Lori Blaker as our first woman chair,” says Bill Kersten, NATEF president. “Lori has been an enthusiastic supporter of the NATEF mission and we look forward to her leadership in 2009.”
