STRONGSVILLE, Ohio – PPG Automotive Refinish will present a series of four seminars at the upcoming NACE Expo in Las Vegas. These seminars are designed to help attendees improve their accuracy in matching OE color variations as well as gain a greater understanding of the steps they can take to improve their repair process performance and compete successfully in today’s marketplace.
“Demystifying the Source of OE Color Variances,” a seminar led by Mike Henry, PPG manager, color print tools, will cover the sources of color variation at the OEM level, as well as help attendees gain an understanding of the techniques that can be employed to best identify and match a customer’s vehicle color when it varies from the OE standard. This seminar is scheduled for Weds. Nov. 5 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
“Competing in the 21st Century,” conducted by David Knapp, PPG senior business manager, will explore industry and business challenges facing owners and managers of collision shops and how focusing on key critical success factors can significantly improve a shop’s ability to gain a competitive advantage in quality, throughput and cost. According to Knapp, the overall mission of the seminar is to help attendees gain a vision of how they can transform today’s challenges into opportunities and achieve sustainable growth and profitability. This seminar is scheduled for Weds., Nov. 5 from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.
MVP’s “Practical Application of Lean Six Sigma for Collision” seminar will focus on understanding the proven process improvement science of Lean Six Sigma and how these principles can be practically applied to the collision repair process. Led by Rich Altieri, PPG senior business manager, and Jim Berkey, director of MVP Business Solutions, the seminar aims to provide an understanding of the difference between throughput and efficiency and how practical changes in the repair process can improve cycle time—a factor increasingly being considered in the decision-making process of both insurers and consumers alike. This seminar is scheduled for Weds., Nov. 5 from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
A third MVP seminar, “Kaizen Management: Building a Continuous Improvement Culture,” will focus on how to develop the full potential of the collision shop’s workforce as a key means of improving overall performance and profitability. Co-taught by Randy Dewing, an MVP Black Belt consultant, and Michael Gunnells, MVP Business Solutions manager, the seminar explores how shops can best train and grow their top talent from within as well as improve processes through analysis and refinement of job processes. The seminar has been approved for credit from AMI, the Automotive Management Institute. This seminar is scheduled for Thurs., Nov. 6 from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.
