SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California/Nevada/Arizona Automotive Wholesalers’ Association (CAWA) held a private meeting with Senator Tom Harman (R–Calif.) at Hub Auto Supply in Costa Mesa on March 18th to re-introduce him to CAWA and discuss important legislative and regulatory issues impacting the automotive aftermarket and business industries in California such as: attempts to erode workers compensation reforms; skyrocketing costs of providing health care for employees; repeated attempts to lock the aftermarket out from providing parts and repairs to consumers; increased need for career and technical training programs; and actions by the California Air Resources Board to extend warranties and propose bans of automotive related products, eliminating the ability of the California consumer to have meaningful choices in what parts and services they can use on their vehicle.

CAWA members present were Brian Webb of Hub Auto Supply, Darryl Webb of Haps Auto Supply, Gary Mercer of Dura International, Steve Salustri of RPS Marketing and CAWA Director of Government Affairs Jennifer Zins. Also joining CAWA was Automotive Service Councils of California (ASCCA) member Mark Redfield of Marks Automotive in Newport Beach, Calif.

Senator Harman is a member of both the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee and the Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee, two key committees that CAWA-related issues move through. CAWA says he was receptive to hearing about the issues.
