Untitled DocumentRICHMOND, Va. — The Washington Metropolitan Auto Body Association (WMABA) recently donated $2,500 and is the first regional association to sponsor and support the Database Enhancement Gateway (DEG) project.
As the first regional collision industry association outside of the founding associations to form the entity, WMABA is proud to offer assistance to a program whose mission aligns with its own. For the betterment of all the repairers of the collision industry, the Board of Directors felt this effort worthy to donate funds toward.
The Database Enhancement Gateway (DEG), which is housed at www.degweb.org, is an initiative that was developed to help improve the quality and accuracy of collision repair estimates, through proactive feedback from the collision repair industry and other "end users" to the information providers (IPs) that supply the databases for the various estimating products. The DEG is created, equally funded and maintained by the Automotive Service Association (ASA), the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers (AASP) and the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS).
One of the architects of the DEG is WMABA’s Vice President Barry Dorn, also of Dorn's Body Paint in Mechanicsville, Va. "My work with the Society of Collision Repair Specialists and the Collision Industry Conference Database Task Force to put this program together has been very fulfilling. To see the database filling with inquiries from other repairers tells us that the program is working."
President Torchy Chandler also felt the program to be worthy adding, "This is the best thing to happen in our industry for repairers since I can ever remember. There aren't enough venues that are addressing issues with collision estimating systems, and it is quite refreshing to see the database growing and the education now available to us in one place."
