MANKATO, Minn. — In keeping with its mission to support and encourage women who are entering the industry, particularly those in the technical ranks, the Women’s Industry Network (WIN) is honoring Selena Strickland with the organization’s first educational scholarship.

Strickland is the top finisher from her state of Georgia and the 10th place winner overall for automotive collision repair in the national Skills USA Competition. The WIN scholarship includes airfare, lodging and admission to the NACE Expo and Conference in Las Vegas, Oct. 31-Nov. 3, provided by the Automotive Management Institute (AMI). Strickland will also receive a 2008 membership to WIN.

“Offering this type of scholarship is the ultimate expression of WIN’s mission and purpose. It honors a woman with demonstrated skill and passion for the industry, and provides her with an opportunity for further education, personal development and networking. As WIN grows, we hope to offer many more scholarships like this,” says Geralynn Kottschade, owner of Jerry’s Body Shop, Mankato, Minn., who serves as WIN’s Chair.

Strickland’s accomplishment and receipt of this scholarship will be acknowledged during the NACE awards ceremony held at the Second General Session on Friday, Nov. 2nd.

WIN is accepting corporate sponsors to assist the organization in realizing its goals. For more information contact Marcy Tieger at [email protected] or Kathy Mello at [email protected].
