ST. CHARLES, Ill. — Mentors At Work, LLC, has launched an executive book study series that will lead shop and jobber owners and managers through some of the most important business and management books of modern times, says Mentors At Work, which will lead participants and a group of their peers through a chapter-by-chapter study of books like The E-Myth Revisited, Raving Fans, Good to Great and more. The first book study, The E-Myth Revisited — Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What To Do About It (the “E” in the title stands for “entrepreneur”), by Michael E. Gerber, begins in mid-August. Participants in the book study will receive online access to a list of “points to ponder” and study questions for each chapter. Participants will be invited to join an online forum with their peers where they can discuss various issues that the book brings to life in today's collision repair industry, and they'll also be invited to participate in two online meetings/conference calls with their peers in September, and at the end of the initial study, participants will be encouraged to create some Commitments To Action. The E-Myth Revisited book study will be led by Mark Claypool, President and CEO of Mentors At Work and Select Tech Professional Services. The E-Myth Revisited has had a profound impact on the way some of the Collision Repair Industry’s leaders do their daily business. “This first in a series study is breaking new ground in reviewing state-of-the-art business practices with business owners and managers who go through the very same things each and every day,” explains Claypool. According to Claypool, The E-Myth Revisited applies well to the collision repair industry. “The author, Michael Gerber, points out that most small businesses are created by technicians who are skilled on the technical side of things and continue to focus on that side of the company and ignore or don’t spend enough time in the other aspects of their business because they don’t have the skills or it is out of their comfort zones,” says Claypool. “They end up having a “job” rather than truly owning a “business” — the business owns them rather than the other way around. Gerber leads the reader beyond this to the promised land of the great American dream. This book is a must read for all business owners.” The E-Myth Revisited book study will begin August 13th and end September 28th. The cost to participate is $195 plus the cost of the book itself which can be picked up at any local book store, online or through Mentors At Work.
