Bulletin: Panel replacement—door outer
Note: When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves to reduce the chance of injury.Removal procedure:
A. Remove the door from the vehicle.
B. The outer door panel is folded over the inner door shell. Grind off the edges so that the outer door panel can be separated from the door shell.
C. Remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials from the repair area, as necessary. Note: Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair in the Cautions and Notices section of the complete bulletin for cautionary recommendations.
D. Straighten the edges of the door shell and grind them clean.Installation procedure:
A. Prepare all attachment surfaces as necessary. B. Prime with two-part catalyzed primer. C. Position the door outer panel to the door shell and ensure that alignment is correct. D. Apply 2 mm to 3 mm (0.08 in. to 0.12 in.) bead of metal bonding to the outer panel at hem flanges. E.
