Jan. 17, 2013—Automotive glass company Safelite Group recently announced an agreement to acquire all of the vehicle glass related assets of Windshield World, a glass repair and replacement company based in Barre, Vt.
The deal was finalized Dec. 31. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Windshield World—a company with operations in 20 cities throughout Vermont, New Hampshire and New York—has developed a well-respected presence in the New England market, which Safelite said was the leading factor that made the acquisition attractive. Safelite did not previously have a strong, physical presence in that particular region of the U.S.
Safelite said the acquisition continues its mission to grow in the U.S., and will allow for improved coverage to better serve customers and insurance client needs.
Windshield World’s general manager, Mike Miceli, will serve as a consultant during the transition, and will play a significant role in the integration of the two businesses, according to Safelite. Patrick Malone, previous owner of Windshield World, has transitioned his focus toward his commercial real estate business.
“We are happy to welcome Windshield World’s employees to the Safelite team,” said Tom Feeney, president and CEO of Columbus, Ohio-based Safelite. “As we continue to grow our company—both through strategic acquisitions of smaller, strong regional brands, as well as through organic growth—we know that our associates will benefit from our commitment to giving them all the resources they need to succeed, and that our customers will continue to receive the best value and service in the industry.”
