Aug. 20, 2012—Caliber Collision Centers recently donated a refurbished 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan to a needy family in Texas through the National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) 2012 Recycled Rides program.

The vehicle was gifted to Andrea Brown, a single mother of six children in Austin, Texas, during a presentation at Caliber’s South Lamar location. The vehicle, which was provided by State Farm Insurance, was also filled with gift certificates, toys and other gifts for Brown’s family.

The vehicle was donated to Brown with the help of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas, an organization she has been involved with since 2006. Gil Levy, vice president of programs at Big Brothers Big Sisters, said the organization nominated Brown to receive the vehicle because of her dedication to ensure education is a priority in her children’s lives—each of which have been involved with various school-sponsored activities throughout the summer.

“We commend Ms. Brown for her determination and focus on education as a way to ensure a better future for her children,” said Rusty Barsanti, vice president of operations for Caliber. “Caliber’s highest purpose is to restore our customers to the rhythm of their lives. We are honored to support Ms. Brown’s goals with this gift of reliable transportation and hope it serves as a catalyst to restore the Brown family to the rhythm of their lives, too.”

Caliber said the donation will allow Brown to more actively participate with her children’s extracurricular activities, without having to rely on public transportation at unsafe times of day.

“Just knowing I now have reliable transportation for my family gives me so much peace,” Brown said. “I am so thankful to Caliber Collision, State Farm, and for all these people who took the time to help my family, giving us this car and all the gifts and toys for the kids, too.”

Caliber said several local businesses donated parts, materials and service to help refurbish the vehicle, including Allen Samuels Dodge, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Sikkens/AkzoNobel, Keystone Automotive, Miles Tire and Wheel, Star of Texas Auto Glass and Genter’s Detail Services.

This mark’s Caliber’s eighth vehicle donation through the NABC’s Recycled Rides program this year. The company plans to gift 12 vehicles through the program by year’s end.
