Sept. 7, 2012—Jennifer Kinney, office manager for Classic Auto Collision in Marquette, Mich., is the recipient of this year’s Richard Cossette/Gale Westerlund Memorial Scholarship, according to an announcement from the Automotive Management Institute (AMI) and the Automotive Service Association (ASA).
The $1,000 scholarship will help Kinney attend educational sessions and learn about new technology and equipment during the 2012 NACE Expo Oct. 10-13 in New Orleans.
“I am honored and grateful to receive this scholarship. The opportunity to continue seeking knowledge and experience in the industry enables me to become a stronger, better manager and leader for my team,” Kinney said.
Cossette, who passed away from cancer in 2002, owned Lehman’s Garage in Minneapolis, Minn., and was a charter founder of the AMI, according to a news release_notes. He was highly involved in the industry and held several leadership positions on the ASA board of directors.
Westerlund owned and operated Gale’s Auto Center in Blaine, Minn. Westerlund served on the ASA board of directors for many years and was an active member in several collision industry organizations. He earned the AMI Accredited Automotive Manager designation in 1993. He died in 2005.
