Allstate to open auto insurance agencies in Massachusetts

Oct. 4, 2012

Oct. 4, 2012—Allstate Insurance Co. this week announced it will open new agency locations throughout Massachusetts to expand local auto insurance options for consumers in the state.

Allstate said it re-entered the Massachusetts auto insurance market roughly three years ago. Prior to the decision to launch agencies within the state, the company allowed Massachusetts drivers to purchase auto insurance through agents in neighboring states, including Connecticut, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

Allstate’s first new Massachusetts agency location will open for business this month. The company said efforts to recruit, educate and deploy additional agents statewide are underway.

"Our continued evaluation of the competitive changes implemented by the state four years ago gave us the confidence that this was the right move at the right time," said David Schwartzer, field senior vice president for Allstate. "We look forward to providing Massachusetts consumers more of the local presence and customer experience that only an Allstate agent can offer."

Allstate said it currently serves about 16 million households with auto, home, life and retirement plans through its Allstate, Encompass, Esurance and Answer Financial brand names.
