April 29, 2013—The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) recently recognized a select group of professionals who have demonstrated outstanding service and accomplishment in the collision repair industry.
The SCRS Lifetime Achievement Award-Regional was presented posthumously to Dave McBroom, founder and president of the Florida Autobody Collision Alliance (FACA).
“The award is for people who inspire; people who have dedicated themselves to bettering the industry from which they have come," said Aaron Schulenburg, executive director of the SCRS. “…Dave is somebody who epitomizes this award, and somebody we believe belongs on the very short list of individuals who should be memorialized for their efforts."
Gary Wano Jr. was awarded the Collision Industry Individual Service Award, which recognizes people who exhibit actions considered exemplary in maintaining and advancing the collision repair industry.
The Collision Industry Non-Individual Service Award was presented to Toyota Motor Sales USA for its leadership and innovation in the industry, and responsiveness to collision repairers with the development of predictive estimating tools. The award is presented to companies, businesses and corporations that have made contributions to the collision repair industry.
Toby Chess was presented with the Lifetime Honorary Membership to SCRS, which is reserved for individuals who make ongoing and long-standing contributions to SCRS on a national and local level. Chess is a training specialist who is known for his work with first responders and as an advocate for body shops and consumers.
This is only the third time the honor has been awarded since the SCRS was formed in 1982.
